What Are The Different Types of Cryotherapy Available?

Half Body Immersion

This is similar to the whole body immersion, but only your head and up to your waist are immersed in ice water for a shorter amount of time than with whole-body immersion, usually two minutes.

Top Half Cryotherapy

Similar to half-body cryotherapy, this option involves dipping just the upper half of the body into cold liquid nitrogen tanks for an average duration of one minute or less.

This may be used if you have spinal problems that prohibit you from submerging yourself completely underwater or lower back pain which makes it difficult for you to lie on your stomach while in the tank. Other conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease also require top half cryotherapy because lying down is not recommended for individuals with this condition.

The person is wrapped with a sheet of ice and then exposed to a temperature below 30 degrees for about two minutes.
